Restoration 24 Hours a Day
An influx of water into your home or business can happen for any number of reasons; a burst pipe, a washing machine malfunction or a toilet overflow. Regardless of the cause, excess water can have serious adverse effects and cause water damage very quickly. Water damage can cause wood floors to rot, destroy furniture, carpet and personal belongings, and even compromise the structural stability of a building. Left untreated, a water emergency can quickly create an environment for mould to grow and pose a serious hazard to your family’s health.
Water Damage Emergencies
Timing is truly everything when it comes to minimising water damage. Harmful mould, bacteria and mildew can start to form a mere 12 hours after a water emergency. Within 48 hours, a serious mould problem can occur.
Personal property also has a higher likelihood of surviving a water emergency if tended to right away. When furniture and carpet are treated immediately, the more opportunity The Clean Machine has to salvage your property. The faster we can extract the water from your business or residence and move forward with the drying process. The less damage will likely accrue.
What is Mould?
Mould is a fungus that causes growth on different types of damp or dead organic material. Similar to bacteria in that it eats and digests the organic material, mould reproduces by producing airborne spores that can travel quite some distance. Mould digests the organic material by using its digestive systems to secrete enzymes that break down the material. During this digestion process, toxic by-products are released into the air. Research has shown that over a hundred species of mould are toxic to humans and can be detrimental to our health in a variety of ways.
Problems Caused by Mould
Mould can cause numerous structural and health issues. Some mould has even been found to contain carcinogens. Some of the problems mould can cause include:
•A threat to existing gyprock walls, wood, furniture and carpet
•Overall structural damage
•Unattractive stains and noticeable spotting
•Allergies and swollen throats, eyes, noses and skin
•Lung problems, infections and difficulty breathing
•Sleepiness and flu-like symptoms
•Headaches, diarrhoea and rashes
•Dermatitis
